When I visited home for Thanksgiving, mom was listening to an audiobook of it in the kitchen (which dad and I were forced to listen to vicariously in the next room). In the sections I heard there was constant use of G-D- this and G-D- that, cursing is fine but he seemed to rely on G-D- in particular as a sort of crutch. Not unrealisitic but still annoying. Dad said that it was the mark of a lazy writer, to which I replied that it reminded me of when comedians curse or "work blue": it guarantees a chuckle with proper delivery and then you don't have to actually be funny. I must have heard the phrase at least 15 times in the section that I listened to.
