"Locus Solus" by Raymond Roussel

One of the weirdest "novels" ever. Basically this rich guy who lives outside Paris invites a bunch of people to come and visit. He takes them round his estate and shows them a lot of weird machines / exhibits he's made. They're just bizarre, e.g. there's a liquid you can breathe in, and he has a cat in it doing ballet (?).

The exhibits are all described in autistic detail and that's it. No plot, no nothing.
