You are supposed to forgive your enemies, but there's a fun little twist here: Christ commands us to forgive OUR enemies. The people who have wronged us personally, who have dealt us personal harm, or our families harm. People who have cheated us, lied to us, cuckolded us, done us, as individual people, direct harm. We must forgive them, because God forgave us our sins.

But the enemies of God?

They can get fucked.

This is why the Crusades were completely licit and valid, and why the wars waged by Catholics against the Ottomans were valid too. Because Muslims, like Jews, like Hindus, like Buddhists, like atheists, aren't your enemies, they're God's enemies. They haven't wronged you personally, they have wronged God and blasphemed against the Holy Spirit, in the various forms it all takes for them.

War against them is therefore licit and valid, just as it was valid for the Israelites to kill the inhabitants of Canaan to establish the Holy Land.

This is the inevitable conclusion of actually reading the Bible and following what it actually says. Which of course the Catholic Church has done for most of its history. Vatican 2 is an aberration, one that, God willing, will be corrected soon.
