all aesthetic and cultural impact talk aside, I don't believe anyone who is intelligent could read and be fascinated by shakespeare let alone not be bored to death. before hating shakespeare haters consider that.

As someone who doesn't really enjoy Shakespeare, have you considered that perhaps it's just because you're not used to the language? There's a book, The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood by Howard Pyle written in a kind of faux archaic English that at first I didn't like, but after the second chaper, I got used to the language and started really enjoying. So I'm thinking, maybe the only reason I don't like Shakespeare is that I just need to get used to that archaic English.
Although perhaps it is in fact just because he sucks.
