Are we doing this this year?

>> No.22712508

Only if it excludes books that were in the last Top 100. Otherwise it'd be the same exact list over again.

what's even the point of it when a book can get into the top 100 with 3 votes?

Time to let the /lit/ 100 and /lit/ itself die. It ain’t so much about literature anymore

Yeah that list isn’t accurate. Call of the Crocodile is the most posted book.

ranks 80 to 100 are volatile precisely because a few votes make all the difference. in the past year the more interesting chart was the top 200 or the notable mentions chart.

My request is that the works of Shakespeare be considered as one book. Shakespeare deserves the top spot, but obviously no individual 20,000 word play can compete with an entire novel.

bullshit. hamlet is #20 and there were other plays of his in other charts. the point of this, if there is any, is to get newfags to read more good books not to make this thing even more of circlejerk.

>>22712466
We should. But for the ones who actually read, we need to make sure to get books that haven't been in previous charts before in the top 100.

To all those complaining that it’s the same books, do you understand there is no point in voting for a book that has no chance of making the list? I will never make the mistake again after none of the books I have voted for over the years made the list. And if you’re perplexed why books by Dostoyevsky and Joyce constantly make the list, you are clueless. The 100 chart is meant to give a passing idea of what the board has been into over the past year. /lit/ has always been about “the western canon” and “the classics”. If you want to see more personal and niche books then look at a favorites thread. Lots of anons have favorites that will never make the 100 list

If I'm being honest I only read "Stranger" and 2 first Witcher books.
I'm retarded but I want to read some books. Is it okay to go with books from 1 to 100 with this list?

If you want to jump right in to Moby Dick that’s fine but be warned it is very long and most people start with shorter lit works such as Borges Ficciones or the Apology of Plato.
