A mostly retarded take with a grain of truth. Lots of people do read books to feel productive while avoiding what they need to do. Self-help sells majorly and it is almost without exceptions banal truths. Similar with pick-up artist books. Books can be a way for the fearful to try to self-improve from the safety of solitude.
