What could be greater than a book about how amazing negroes are and 1 million descriptions of sperm oil? Jeez idk ,sounds matchless

>> No.22681179

Probably one of the more overrated books I've read in my life. Now watch all the insecure white men with one inch peckers come at me.

Queequeg is a pacific islander. The only blacks in the book are Pip and Daggoo. Daggoo hardly gets any screentime and Pip is written as a cowards and the lowest member of the crew.

Many books are finer if you go by the physical definition of finer which refers to the thinness of an object.

I see you've read Melville's marginal notes to Hawthorne.

Melville, being an obvious Romantic, suffers from "The Noble Savage" syndrome. That stupid idealism still affects people.

It's very good but it being number 1 in all lit top 100s is a bit exaggerated, there are better (but less famous) books over here

These posts are all gaslighting by the way. The left is incredibly angry that they wholesale conceded classical literature to the "chuds" and now they are desperately trying to do damage control. They now can no longer uphold their snobby intellectual image they were always so fond of and they are absolutely terrified of conservatives being more well read than them. So don't fall for this demoralization and read Moby-Dick, it is a pillar of the western canon and absolutely a masterpiece of literature.
