For me, it's the whales.
All jokes aside, I personally believe this to be the most well-written story of all time, purely from a grammatical standpoint.
I'm not sure how others viewed it, but I also thought Moby Dick represented God, and that Ahab was very clearly modelled off of Milton's Satan.
I don't think that it's a coincidence that Ishmael is the only survivor--as he contains all of the holy virtues such as loyalty, bravery, purity, innocence, and love.

I very much like the way Melville writes, he and Cormac McCarthy are inspiring in how they use prose (not so much Pynchon lmao).

I also like all of the autistic tangents and how it makes faggots seethe. They really build up the world not just in a physical way but in a memetic/conceptual way as well. Though I also generally like it when some simpleton reads a passage and then gets thrown for a curve when the plot gets abandoned for awhile so they just seethe at the perceived discontinuity they created out of their own poor diet (of stories).
