My guess is that this is just a species of Paganism; this corporate entity standing in for some aspect of Aphrodite, for instance. Some other for an aspect of Asclepius, another for Apollo: the Bud Light aspect of A-B for some not necessarily reprehensible stray glimmering of God Dionysus, etc.
