Where should I start with Jung?

>> No.22650878

Avoid Man and His Symbols it's pop-psych garbage
Modern Man in Search of a Soul is a good starting point
Proceed through the bulk of his collected works reading what most interests you, but particularly 'Symbols of Transformation', 'Psychology & Religion: East and West,' 'Psychology and Alchemy,' and 'Alchemical Studies' are major stops. I haven't read anything on Jungian typology but I assume that's also a major stop.
The Red Book and particularly Aieon are exit-level Jung

No don’t do this. Just start with a brief understanding of Freud and Move on to Man and His Symbols and then his Biography. From there you can branch out to whatever interests you as long as you read with care and take notes. Also you should read some of his students later if you are still interested.

It doesn't explain anything. It's literally a waste of time.

Don't, probably the biggest waste of time possible.

Its an introduction to the context of psychology Jung was operating in when he began his practice. It outlines where he departs from Freud and Adler and his perspectives on their practices.
That's what an introduction does. I'm sorry you wanted magic formulae or something, try Guenon.

freuds introductory lectures and interpretation of dreams. Disregard meme charts if you want to get his methodology and understand the gravity of his later works. I also recommend psychology of dementia pracox as an entrypoint once you are done with that
