I thought this guy was a scientist but apparently he is a reporter in addition to writer, so I guess writing is still his main job. but why is he considered pseudo genius if he's not even a scientist? Or is he right about everything and the pseud is the ruse? I know he's Canadian and that explain why you hate this thread so much already

I enjoyed watching Douglas Murray pushing his shit right in. Also i suspect Murray may be less aprehensive of some sort of authoritarianism as he clearly sees the writing on the wall.

Gladwell exploded onto the scene by taking esoteric scientific papers and distilling them into easily understandable info for dummies who would never read academic research. He's a tremensdouly good storyteller who a lot of times comes to really shitty conclusions, maybe just for the shock value?

I was extremely angry with an episode of his podcast where he said that museums often struggle with funding but refuse to sell their art so fuck them, they deserve it.

He really is no different than any other pop-sci writer or youtuber. He finds a interesting angle to hook the crowd, and he waits for opportunities to repeat his payday formula, be it live speaking events, news articles or books.

People who are good at storytelling should always be placed under scrutiny - you can justify/sell anything with good storytelling.
