ITT: Books that ruined an entire generation

>> No.22578921

Never understood why this book is treated as if it is some subversive anarchist fiction. It's literally an inmature depressed kid complaining about everything. Which is what most troubled kids go through in their teenage years, nothing controversial.
Also, I think many people miss the point, Holden has good feelings, genuinely cares about people and is kinda smart, he's just not able to see it cause he's depressed and inmature. I think what JD was trying to say is that being an angsty fuck leads you nowhere. If you rather focus all that energy you waste being an autistic edgelord on something more relevant, your life could be way better

are we gonna ignore the fact that Holden was a faggot who wanted to be sodomized by his roommate?

It's the opposite though, the roomate goes on a date with a girl holden likes and he spends literally the rest of the book seething about how chadlater definitely ntr'd him.

I think it was just about how fake small talk feels after you experience a life-changing event like a brother dying; its not too controversial
