Which book/books should I start reading next out of these?

the magus

Start on the magus and throw the rest in the trash

Hmm ... third for The Magus
Then Totilla Flat (though I prefer Cannery Row)
Love in the Time of Cholera is a better novel than One Hundred Years of Solitude,
but ready anyway as part of your education, I guess

For stuff like Bocaccio and Dante you need background reading
Kinda true for Turgenev too, where you need to understand the social and cultural upheaval
in the Russia of the time

divine comedy > decameron > fathers and sons > glass bead game > one hundred years of solitude > the magus > libra

in that order

The Magus it is then. I've just finished re-reading Ulysses so hopefully this'll be a bit simpler and easier to get through, I read The Collector fairly recently and really enjoyed that so I am looking forward to reading more Fowles.

Bellow, Cocteau, Pirandello, Dante, dealer's choice thereafter.
