His contradictory philosophy encourages the reader to think for themselves. Unfortunately this also leaves a huge gray area in what he is trying to acheive. He constantly makes references to christianity and his philosophy asserts that everything has its place however therefore perhaps he was more Christian than a cursory Wikipedia scan would indicate.

If you're struggling to understand Nietzsche just mentally replace "good" and "bad" with "based" and "cringe". Self-confident, creative, swaggering power is based. Whiny resentment is cringe. There's nothing based about faggy bourgeois Germans whining that Jews are better than them at all the stuff they're proud of. Romans crushing a rebellion is based as hell.
