I thought the exact opposite. From that book it became obvious Dazai does not fuck, nor does he understand women. All the female characters were literal cardboard cutouts and it was embarrassing to read Dazai attempting to make them realistic and compelling. What made it terrible was that 80% of the book was about these shitty "characters." Only cool part was the guy who wrote the letters but he was literally just the character in no longer human, and why would you read a shitty book for a few chapters of a cool character when you can read a better book whos main character is that guy?
