What are some books that teaches good moral values aside from religious texts? Do such works exist? Can one argue for morality without religious basis?

Morality cannot be taught through what one reads but rather how one reads it. It is the social context through which one reads religious texts that ethical lessons are then subsequently constructed: we selectively read the Bible so that passages like the instruction to give away all of our possessions are ignored or meant in a metaphorical sense, because it is extremely impractical, while putting incredible stock on other passages. We choose Solomon's 700 wives to be an odd historical curiosity but otherwise uphold him to be a sage. The Bible itself is not the source of how morality is constructed but rather the community of interpreters. This is why Ivan's dictum of "without God everything is permitted" is true in one sense but fallacious in another: on an individual level, a world without God has no apparent consequences for moral actions, but the community without God still needs rules and norms to function, it will not allow for absolutely everything to be permitted. Morality exists but deriving it from religion and especially from religious texts is reversing cause and effect, religion arises because we interpret the world morally. It then in turn reciprocally changes how we interpret the world and morality, but it is not responsible for giving us morality any more than the sense of the divine, both of which are deeper, more fundamental aspects of human experience that religion reveals to us but does not create. Religion is the "revelation" of morality and God, not a creation ex nihilo. Humans err when they mistake the particular instance, the historic revelation, religion, for the thing itself.

Existentialists actually may be a good place to start. They may not espouse particular moral principles so much as inform you on what you- anybody really- are actually doing when you adopt moral principles. For a popular example, the end of The Stranger deals with this when meaursault discusses the prosecutors and courtroom in his cell. For another, The Myth of Sisyphus deals with what is at the end of The Stranger, but in a positive light. Since they discuss the context/environment/reality w/e in which we are adopting morals rather than espousing morals the same thinker can deal with the subject of morals in a positive and negative light- be rounded about them.

As I'm posting this taking a shit, my stay at home wife is making our toddler lunch. None of this is any kind of impossible ideal against the modern world that the Jew fears. it's just life. Stop having autism.

Nothing in mainstream thought can deliver what you want. Even Nietzsche has been stolen, one must look at older, more authoritarian interpretations of his work.
