Surprisingly wholesome for a relatively recent thread. I think it's kind of funny but I see a lot of myself in that anon. It's like a med student developing hypochondria after a long study session, except numinous. Pedagogy which is connected to heartfelt narratives is long lasting and alive.

It's like Divina Comedia except more surreal, the sexes are largely reversed (although it's no less homoromantic), and it freely toys with the liminal boundaries between afterlife categories. Plus, there's less language barrier than there'd usually be with such a large temporal/spatial gulf. We also talked for a long time about the Thomistic themes within both, especially if you connect Aquinas to the modern era through the continental traditions centered around Przywara and Ulrich. Interestingly enough, I argued that Madoka Magica is actually more Thomistic than the former if we're going more by sentimentality but we both agreed that theolegalistically Dante's work is less problematic.
