It reads like /pol/ ethnostate shitpost. Its a Tedfuel. Its a low brow. Idk how tf Steinbeck got away with it. Okies must have been down in the gutter niggas. Or even worse.
Even crackhead Hunter s. Thompson in his great shark hunt refers to them as subhuman untermensch. Even spic like Oscar zeta Acosta in his memoirs see them as a down and out cast. What was their point? Why would they even want to live.jpg

It had the reverse effect on me that Steinbeck intended.
Those Okies were so retarded, I was firmly rooting for The Man by the end.

It's short, sweet, and to the point.
But man, Steinbeck's suck a tryhard. Really just begging to appeal to English teachers. He's all
LOOK AT ME I'M ALLUDING TO ANOTHER WORK BUT MY SETTING IS PLAIN AMERICAN FOLKS
EVERYBODY STAND BACK I'M ABOUT TO SET UP A MOTIF

And I mean, he IS doing it. He wrote some good book, but man subtlety is not his strong suit.

Both start out excellent but slowly devolve into horseshit
Also boomers are absolutely fucking obsessed with prostitutes/the sexuality of their female relatives. They should have gone to therapy

It's good but I feel like it already says everything it has to say by about halfway through and doesn't add anything particularly new or interesting for the remainder. My favourite part is early on when it's describing the process of the bank selling up all the land and how no single person in the hierarchy of the bank wants it to happen, yet "the bank" still wills it.
