Posted this on /tv/ but they sent me here..

So why did Harry and Voldemort HAVE to fight to fight it out? Couldnt Voldemort just ate shit until Harry died? I mean he was immortal..

Pic semirelated

>> No.2231796

He could have, but he believed in the prophesy. You know, "Neither can live while the other survives."

>> No.2231792

He knew that someone was destroying the horcruxes, his immortality was under threat.

I want to know why he didn't kill Neville to be sure, he fit the prophecy too and he had no qualms with killing kids.

Harry wasn't/isn't immortal though, Voldemort could have just waited for him to die of old age or somthing

Expected some variation of this on the first reply, but hey. It took three. I'll take that as a sign of improvement.

If you mean back when they were babies, I assume he went to kill Harry first, then he was exploded and didnt have the opportunity. Also, the reaction that happened when Voldemort tried to kill Harry probably cemented the idea in Tom's head that Harry was The One

>> No.2232000

Harry Potter should be banned from this board.
that crap ain't literature.

>> No.2232047

Because Voldemort was compelled to kill Harry. The Prochecy names him as "the one who will vanquish the Dark Lord," and tells that "He shall have power the Dark Lord does not." Voldemort, who is obsessed with his own power, and terrified of his own mortality cannot abide either idea. The irony of it all is that Voldemort shapes Harry into his enemy by killing his friends and family. The Prophecy would not have come true had Voldemort not tried to prevent it.

He didn't kill Neville because he saw himself in Harry. Neville was a Pureblood, whereas Harry, like Voldemort carried Muggle blood (from his grandparents on his mother's side.)

Because America exists in the Harry Potter world, and so do American Wizards, who will require education. Logically, we can assume that they have at least one boys school as well as a girls school, without having to have it spelled out to us.

There's a difference between describing something vaguely, and using it's proper name.

Sorry friend, I thought since there was only one stated school for girls in Salem, then you would know what I was talking about. Silly me, there could be hundreds of all girl schools for witches is Salem, ammirite?

>> No.2232317

Actually he's just assuming that a population with female witches will also have male wizards. That really isn't very unreasonable.

>> No.2232323

>>2232305
There's no large wizard population anywhere in Harry Potter, that's kinda the point. They're dying out and in hiding. Hogwarts only has about 140 students at any given time.

Plus if you're going to argue about harry potter, at least use the correct names for things. It isn't that hard.

>>2232333
There are 5 people in Harry's Dormitory. These are all the male Gryffindors in his grade. Including females, there are roughly 10 in each house per year level. So, 40 in each year, and 40 x 7 = 280... my bad. Whatever, still that's 280 (give or take), in a school that covers all of England, Ireland, Scotland an possibly Wales.
