Is the book really The NIGGER of the Narcissus? Are you still allowed to put out a book with a title like The NIGGER of the Narcissus? I know also of Agatha Christie's book Ten Little NIGGERS, but I think the days of book titles like The NIGGER of the Narcissus and Ten Little NIGGERS are over. You could surely never get away with naming a book something like The NIGGER of the Narcissus or Ten Little NIGGERS in today's global village. People would say "Ten Little NIGGERS? How dare you say that? Ten Little NIGGERS? Are you serious? Ten Little NIGGERS? Why, there hasn't been a book with a title that inflammatory since The NIGGER of the Narcissus." You would get cancelled, and for good reason.

What about reprints of books like The NIGGER of the Narcissus and Ten Little NIGGERS? Should they have their titles amended, as some translations of Huck Finn amend the name of NIGGER Jim? Today's more refined sensibilities simply will not tolerate books with titles like The NIGGER of the Narcissus or Ten Little NIGGERS or characters with names like NIGGER Jim.
