similar to starship troopers.

especially the first book Consider Phlebas always felt like an allegory to the cold war, Bora Horza Gobuchul the protagonist seems like a caricatured version of McCarthy, angry at the culture because "muh freedoms" and not understanding that some people actually like living in the culture.

it makes me think of the culture taking the same role in this book, as the bugs from starship troopers,
however both take completely different routes.

>Is the CULTURE series an inverse starship troopers?
Maybe, in the sense that however flawed it's underlying philosophy is, Starship Troopers is actually a good book with original in earnest ideas written by a talented author expressing himself in earnest, while Consider Phlebas is a derivative piece of shit halfheartedly shitposted out of a lazy hack's bunghole.

>Consider Phlebas
Here's what went wrong.
>Misson.
>Hijack starship and crew.
>Just about perfect anthropomorphic furry girlfriend.
>Can't get her pregnant.
>So fuck her brains out.
>Land on planet of death.
>"I'm ... I'm ... pregnant."
>Whatever. Mission.
Versus:
>Embrace her!
>Fuck this place. Fuck this mission.
>Turn around and march right back.
>Sell the stupid prisoner to the Idirans.
>Fuck off to nowhere.
>Live happily ever after.

The Culture series is far more than Consider Phlebas.
IMO it peaks with "Excession", which is a wild story about a high-level civilization confronted with something that's beyond their extensive knowledge.

let me guess you're a chud whos mad that the hack cucklein didn't get as much love from zoomers, and the directors of his movies reversed his works themes.

>starshit troopers
>90% of the book is preaching some retarded shit in the classroom
>some of the worst prose and writing ever in sci fi
> reads like some PSA government goyslop made to convince good goy like you to go die in vietnam.
>protagonist is some seamonkey who has sub 90 iq.
>characters flat as an ironing board.

i've read the video,
the book was still excruciating to read(like neuromancer but 10 times worse and not as creative)

make was well write non fiction,

also his "the moon is a harshmistress" is much better.
