What should I read if I feel like God hates me? I know, weird question, but I feel like something is off with this life of mine.

>inb4 the Bible

Yeah but what books and what should I meditate on?

If you live in sin he probably does hate you. Repent, ask for forgiveness, and amend what you're doing wrong.

Job, Ecclesiastes, any of the Gospels.
You could also listen to Mike Schmitz's Bible in a Year podcast to reflect on the entire Bible.
I also personally really like Proverbs.

Consider this if you'd like an approach other than an increasingly neurotic relationship to religious texts.

Christ offers forgiveness to anyone who will take it. It doesn't matter what you've done or for how long.

If you do prefer to stick with a religious approach, engaging with negative theology is a based way to embrace the unknowability of God.

How do we know this?

nta it's in the Gospels
Calvinists, however, believe that only a select few people will be saved even if you really want to be.
reprobates and the elect or whatever
but that belief directly contradicts God's mercy and love, as well as indirectly contradicts his power.
if God won't save them, he isn't merciful. if he can't save them, he isn't all powerful. that sort of thing.
but Calvinists are silly anyway

Through God's revelation to us. The next question would be how do we know that this is real. To that, there's nothing anyone can say to prove it to you. You either believe in it or you don't.

>Calvinists, however, believe that only a select few people will be saved even if you really want to be.
This isn't accurate. In Calvinism the only people who truly want to be saved are the elect. There aren't people who desire salvation and have faith in Christ but whom are denied by God.

I would agree with you but modern Calvinists don't think that way. At least the ones that I've met don't.
The issue of homosexuality is constantly brought up alongside reprobate stuff, so I'll use it as a reference.
the Calvinists I've met believe that even if you truly desire to repent of your homosexuality, and you've prayed and put it all behind you, you're not saved because at one point you did feel those things, so that must mean God wants nothing to do with you ever.
I think it stems from pastor Steven Anderson and people like that.

This is simply not true. Calvinism (Reformed theology) is represented by the churches that faithfully subscribe to the historic Reformed confessions of the faith, primarily the Westminster Standards and the Three Forms of Unity. There are also Calvinistic Baptist churches who have their own confessions, such as the 2nd London Baptist Confession of Faith (based on the Congregationalist Savoy Declaration). No church holding to any of these confessions would agree with anything that you just said. You're taking the example of a random loon and applying to a far larger group of Christians who would condemn him.

okay then I'm sorry for labelling as Calvinism but that's what these people call themselves. There are a lot of them from varying Baptist churches, and maybe other denominations, but this is what they preach and I was simply bringing it up.

I understand, but Calvinism does have a historical meaning. The proper term is really Reformed theology (being the orthodox side of the Reformation that was not Lutheran), and churches adherent to it are generally called Reformed or Presbyterian. Here is a list of orthodox Reformed denominations in North America.

This stuff isn't specific to anyone. I've heard Eastern Orthodox (who are staunchly free will) say that Seraphim Rose shouldn't be a saint because he was a homosexual before he became a Christian.

Alright, alright. My bad. Steven Anderson preached against Calvinism at one point anyway, I think.
The people I have talked to about it, which is an admittedly small pool on a niche site, described themselves as Calvinists and I simply ran with it.
I apologize, I should've done more research and I'll be more careful discussing it in the future.
