Are The Lord of the Rings books as comfy as The Hobbit?

In places, yes. In fact the overall length of lotr comf is probably greater than the overall length of hobbit comf, but it's spread out over a war and journey in to hell.

This. Some parts of LOTR are very comfy. But some are very sad, and very grim. And some are very beautiful.

It really is a masterful work. Tolkien mostly has a reputation as a lore-obsessed autist, but he was quite skilled as a storyteller, too.
