Ok, I got to know: how many fags we got on this here literature board? I for damn sure say "Oop" when I'm surprised by someone behind a door I open.

The book is The Mezzanine by Nicholson Baker, a must-read in my opinion.

There’s nothing more appealing to the senses than seeing a fit man in just his boxer briefs emanating the pleasant smell of freshly applied cologne.

I say oops and I thought everyone said oops.

I was going to say doesn't everyone say "oops", but now that I think about it, I do in fact say "oop" in that scenario. I wonder why I say it. I don't know where I got it from.

No. That's my norm. It's why I like to pretend if I ever wrote a novel, it would've been The Mezzanine or something like it.

Fermata's probably the best. Vox also excellent. House of Holes less so by a decent margin but still a feat of imagination.

This is typical “friendly midwestern lingo” but as a non midwesterner myself I am ashamed each time I use the term. I also have a habit of saying, “No, you’re fine” which I am not fond of.

The Mezzanine is supremely subpar literature for people who have not and will not read someone like Flann O’Brien or Sasha Sokolov

Funny you say that because I read all of Flann O'Brien before I even knew who Nicholson Baker was. What was your point again, Mr. Pseud?
