It wouldn't work out romantically, and it could go wrong, which would end up ruining our friendship. Her friendship means much more to me than potentially hooking up with her and ruining everything."

My wife and I had a weird realization a few months ago, in that we didn't have the same kind of inner thoughts. She thought entirely in words and language, whereas I only think in words and language when my thoughts involve communication (which does count for a lot). Sometimes my thoughts would be more abstract or visual and I wouldn't frame it in language. She was nonplussed and thought it was weird to not have words in your head all the time (this specifically came up when as part of her attempts to try to quiet her inner voice with meditation).

For example, we might both look at some clouds at sunset. In her mind she'd think the words "those clouds look like cotton candy" whereas I'd just take in the colors and the sensations and if the clouds reminded me of cotton candy I might momentarily think of a vendor at festival, etc.

It was surprising to me but also makes sense given that women do tend to be more verbal by nature.

Why does erotica written for women feature practically every single trope associated with porn aimed at men? I even heard women complain about this, but you can't say that it's men's fault because these novels are written by women for women. So you'd expect them to cater to women's tastes from beginning to end.

Yes, especially for bad writers. It's not necessarily boobs all the time. I have noticed that a lot of writers introduce females by feet. The barefoot female entering the room is pretty common. Take Lem for instance: there is barely any female mentioning in Solaris that does not involve feet

>The barefoot female entering the room is pretty common
I feel called out. It's a nice trope, nothing connected with foot fetish. That's just a way to show a part of the body rather than the entire female character, which is a common literary and movie device. Barefoot women are nice but boots are okay too. And the alternatives are presenting them from the back or hands, both are boring.
