If you’re relatively young you’re actually in a somewhat fortunate position considering that education nowadays is mostly anti-humanistic brainwashing and civic-professional indoctrination into a sterilized world order. You can start with the classics (i.e. Greeks and Romans) and teach yourself Latin and Greek to start an actual humanistic education. I taught myself Latin at 29 personally.

I know this is probably a stupid and incomplete answer, but I'd say you should read:

- the most important novel in your mother tongue (e.g. The Betrothed if you are italian);
- something about basic mathematics (algebra and geometry);
- the magazine Scientific American or a similar one;
- something about world history (NOT just your own country's history).

What do you think, anons?

Study maths/science to understand the universe around you (see /sci/ sticky), Literature (to turn you into a human being, see /lit/ top100 chart), also read a summary of western philosophy, then pick a philosophy you'd like to study of any kind, doesn't even matter which as long as it replaces all the shitsludge that's been poured into you. The four books that make up the trial of Socretes are a good start.

A lot of history is massively distorted, so be cautious about what you pick to read (who funded the author?). Same for anything politics.

Also, unironically, Rich Dad, Poor Dad. School teaches you an obedient slave mindset that's important to break (go school, get job, be poor slave for 60 years, die). Studying business / money is pure fucking horseshit, but it's the prison by which modern man is enslaved, and you can't liberate yourself from it without studying it.

I realized this too, Anon. Now I'm trying to fix this. My plan is as follows:
>learn Latin, Greek, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian and a few others
>get good at math
>get good at physics
>programming (C, C++, etc)
>read and reread and reread the western canon in original languages
>read broadly in history, philosophy, etc
>learn an instrument
I'm just trying to give myself the holistic education that I feel I missed out because the education system is dogwater.

Remember the loci method. I don't mean use that exact method but understand why it works and arrange your information within a context so you know how to retrieve it.
A timeline is a simple example. If you actually imagine a line you have what's like a physical location to place events in.
I think there's also something to be said about attempting to do things you can't and structuring what you learn around accomplishing goals, that's easier in programming than most things. It makes the knowledge seem more valuable if you know it solves some problem stopping you before.

Fuck you, recommend SICP next time.

>>22151393
Start with The Trivium, it's a book by a nun, you'll know it when you see it. If you just want facts, go to a largish used bookstore or library book sale and get the cheapest copy of a complete Encyclopedia (ideally Britannica, but any works) AS LONG AS it was published before 1964. That's really important.

>>22151962
You really don't need all those languages. Translations are good enough now, except for maybe Latin, if only for the mental exercise.

>Do you have any articles on the loci method?
No. It's mostly magicians that use it and magicians are faggots. The majority of your brain is trying to do the job of feeding you information through intuition, the formal part that thinks in language is new. You have to explore your own intuition and learn to interpret emotions to get more out of your brain. That can't really be taught.

START with the Trivium. Logic, Grammar, and Rhetoric are the most important if you don't know anything. The quadrivium can come afterwards but it's not nearly as foundational.

What I meant is that they are more persistent.
If they biased but are also honest they will acknowledge that you have a decent argument, but will also read 100 books until they find a good counterargument.
Again, assuming they are honest with themselves.
If they arent, they will just use an half-assed argument and pretend they won the debate
