I am god. if you suck my cock you'll go to heaven, but if you suck my cock and I'm not god then nothing has changed
If you don't suck my god cock you'll go to hell forever, but if you refuse to suck and I'm not god then nothing has changed.

Gaunilo-style, with a parody argument. Imagine instead of the usual religions, a religion with a God who damns all those who believe in it, but saves the atheists. Now what? Nothing logically rules this possibility out. If you think it's inconsistent with divine perfections, so is the entire problem of evil, so that doesn't rule it out; God works in mysterious ways, after all. So there's no way to rule it out. Pascal's wager already puts theists in a tricky situation since they're as likely to be damned as the atheist by all the other religions if any of them happen to be true. At best you would have an advantage of 1 less god to damn you if you're right, but the atheist won't be damned if they're right either, so I'm not sure it's really an advantage.

Blaise Pascal was a Jansenist. Jansenists are a sub-sect of Catholics who believe in Double-Predestination. Double-Predestination is the belief that Yahweh arbitrarily decided, at the moment he created the universe, that some proportion of humanity would be subjected to eternal torture after death, and some proportion would be granted eternal paradise. Who is in each proportion is totally random and is not influenced by their behaviors in this life.

Mainline Catholics, meanwhile, reject Double-Predestination, instead believing that your fate after death is determined by your actions in this life. Catholic opponents of Jansenism argued that Double-Predestination makes no sense as if it were true then there would be no point in partaking in religious rituals, following moral and ethical commandments, giving money to the Vatican, and other things that (they allege) Christians were instructed to do by the Jewish tribal deity.

"Pascal's Wager" is a response to that criticism. Pascal believed that you could use reason and logic to determine which was the true religion, and he believed that if you did this you'd end up with Jansenism. If, however, one performed the logical calculations wrong, you could end up with Catholicism. But, you also could have calculated wrong and ended up at Jansenism. Thus, when torn between Jansenism and Catholicism, one should still go to church just in case Jansenism is not in fact the one true religion, but rather Catholicism is.

Pascal explicitly rejected the idea of applying this to religions other than Catholicism and Jansenism (as in >>22112380) because there are mutually contradictory religions.

Pascal's point was just proving that despite giving the chance to believe in God rationally no one would start to believe in God that way. That is, even if it is rational to believe in God, one cannot just start believing through reason. Reason does not dictate anything.
