I'm thinking of creating a Youtube channel to focus on books and authors who are obscure if not forgotten. They would be ~10 minute videos, edited and carefully scripted, exploring biography, themes and wider context. The intention is to maintain a channel which introduces such works to a new audience.

Does this sound like something you would be interested in?

I'm not advertising, just trying to find out if there is an appetite for such things.

Lol this faggot is going to read off a tumblr and a blogspot and pretend he’s being original

Not at all. The book I have in mind to begin with, for example, was once popular in another country but is very obscure as far as I can tell yet is very interesting (to me) and I think the average /lit/ poster for example would be interested in learning more about it. The video form is new to me, but I would try to be consistent in terms of scripting and editing so that it isn't a lengthy, rambling video.

Sometimes I search a book and there is such a video, but occasionally there are well-made videos and I appreciate them even if my preferred format is the written word.

>They would be ~10 minute videos, edited and carefully scripted,
If you can actually do this consistently, you'll succeed. But it's easier said than done. I can't make my videos shorter than an hour, my scripts are sometimes too boring, and there's 0 chance I'll learn to edit for them. I also haven't uploaded in over a year. If you do those things you say you will, you could talk about how to paint a house and it would be interesting

10 minutes is way too short make them 20-45 minutes, bitsize but also informative. 10 minutes is essentially useless might as well just start making tiktoks

In the realm where moving images dwell, an empty chase reveals itself, as videos take shape and stories tell. Kant's wisdom echoes, "Aesthetic purpose be the guide," while the Bible cautions, "Vanity of vanities, all is vanity" side by side. A hollow quest devoid of depth, the artistry of frames is bereft, its meaning lost in shadows kept. A void ensues as pixels dance, a futile art in fleeting trance. The canvas yearns for substance true, yet shallow veils obscure the view. In this vast tapestry of illusion, purpose eludes, a rhyme of empty fusion. Thus, the symphony of videos plays on, resounding echoes of meaning gone.

It sounds interesting. What’ll make it or break it is how good you are at writing a script and interpreting it. I wanna start one where I talk about whatever I happen to have recently read in a light, slightly humorous and chaotic manner. It would probably not work if I was making it in english, but booktubers in my country are either girls who only read YA fiction, boomer pseuds talking about shit that has been discussed ad infinitum or sci-fi/fantasy nerds without a sense of humour, so there’s a market for something like a less avant-garde version of TheBookClub.

it's gonna be one of those sad channels with 87 45 minute long videos each with about 350 views except that one that got 4000 views cuz it happened to have a keyword in the title that trended one day after an incident at a college basketball game.

I've done it, even though I haven't uploaded in 3 years. It was more successful than I ever thought it would be. Though I didn't go into it looking for success, just because I liked doing it. I had 100 subscribers when I uploaded my third video that took me months to make. Nowadays I can't be bothered. I just lost the passion for it.

Do people actually watch videos that long though? There is also editing to take into account; a shorter video is easier to edit but a longer one would just rely on a looped video or something.

I would be interested. Would be nice to play some /lit/ videos while I'm eating breakfast or goin on a run.

Out of curiosity, why not do a blog?
