Do any of you fags know how to speak Latin?

>> No.22090765

>>22090761
it is not possible to speak latin only a facsimile with roots in the british public education system a simulacra of ''''days'''' '''''gone''''''

>> No.22090773

My gf is an advanced Latin student and has convinced me the language is mostly for pretentious people. She loves Virgil and Horace but shite on GRR Martin and only refuses to read him (even though I love him), she says the show is trash too and basically won’t even watch great cinema because it “just isn’t art”

Adding "us" to everything means that you are making it the singular masculine subject of the sentence. It would make you sound like a cave man at best.

I have been studying Latin and it seems like pretty much anyone could learn to read Latin. Speaking it fluently though is beyond me for now. It would likely require you start as a kid and spend a crazy amount of hours. I will say Greek however is a much more a pain the ass.

It's because the grammar of the language relies on the form "us" or "um" to denote the subject (ending in "us") or the object of the sentence (ending in "um") and not so much on where in the sentence the word is located. Although Latin is also a language that has a bunch of exceptions to this general rule.
