Hey Lit
Anyone have any good literature on the defence of slavery.

I was reading about a 19th century guy called George Fitzhugh who was so pro slavery he thought even white Americans should also be enslaved lol

Seems to be some pretty wild defences

So if you got any good recommendations let me know

What I mean by defenders of slavery is literature which was written as a response to abolitionist writings

Also I do not endorse slavery and no racism please

Islam has a lot, but western-wise it seems difficult to defend.

It’s not that I just don’t want a bunch of low Iq racist spam I am genuinely interested in academic texts on pro slavery so I was trying to make the discussion as high iq as possible not just “I hate - insert racial minority group here”

Yes you have to look before 1800 mostly at least in Europe

What are some good Islamic texts?

The Bible

>> No.22091139

The primary excuse towards the end was that the African had no knowledge of Christ and therefore no chance at salvation. Better a hellish brief life on earth than burning in hell for all eternity.
Oddly enough slaves seemed to like Christianity.
So maybe the slavers were right after all

All I can think of off the top of my head would be The Politics by Aristotle, but it's not really a response to abolitionists.
Evola may have something similar, but I don't think he was outright supporting slavery insomuch as he was saying that there are natural rulers, and the naturally ruled.

To clarify, Carlyle wrote this as a devil's advocate and collected all of the opinions and rebukes he had heard from anti-abolitionists.

Fitzhugh plagiarized Carlyle.

Look into the novelist that Griffith adapted into The birth of a nation. Claudio Magris has a nice essay on a german-american adventure novelist who was a big admirer of southern aristocratic society and thus supported slavery. There is also some genre of novels made in reaction to novels like Uncle Tom’s novel but I forgot the name. I can’t be arsed to look up these things but this might help you.

Well slavery used to be seen as ethical because if you didnt enslave your enemies you killed them. And also it would be a waste to kill someone who could cook or teach your kids to read.

You're not likely to find much literature supporting it while it was common practice, that would be like writing about how great it is women cant vote before women's sufferage was a forethought.

Was there not any anti slavery/abolitionists in the ancient world who opposed slavery?
