Land merely ripped off Adventures into Fear, a short-lived comic anthology from the 70s by Marvel Comics that starred "Morbius, the Living Vampire", a man who finds himself caught between cutting edge science and mysticism after a failed experiment turns him into a creature resembling the Vampire of myth and Legend. His adventures lead to him encountering the ancient Sorcerer known as Father Daemond and the Caretakers—an order of aliens from a futuristic planet committed to uplifting humanity into a race of technologically empowered Supermen (even though similar efforts on their homeworld lead only to death and misery)—who have been at war with each other since the first proto-human ape picked up the first stone to use as a tool.

I only read the essay called "Hell-baked". It was about how evolution is actually kind of horrifying, what with everyone being the result of 20.000 generations of rape, murder, blind mutations (most of which are pure body horror) and unending suffering.
I distinctly recall writing an almost identical essay in my journal at the tender age of 16, inspired by several Tool songs which I were fond of at the time (primarily Disgustipated and Vicarious, who share the thematic of the universe being hostile and impersonal, and that life is predicated on devouring other life).
It was at that point, coupled with the knowledge that Nick Land is solely popular among twitterphilosophyfags and people younger than 24, that it all clicked - this man is pure undilated power-cringe, and I will never, ever, in my entire life, read anything else he has written.
