Imagine if he'd been a television writer instead working on some HBO prestige series as a showrunner/head writer. You think he would've been any good?

not really, there are plenty of bad sopranos episode, the thing is that american tv shows have a bad track record of being one dimensional and mundane

there's a reason why most of the good ones from the 1990s were first influenced by twin peaks (which is just mystery/soap opera surrealist show) even if they didn´t had the same genre, which includes the sopranos too, look at their dream sequences, this is shit from twin peaks

so american tv shows were and are creatively bankrupt because most showrunners are afraid to experiment and latch onto things that know people will like

>> No.22079785

>>22079717
>twin peaks
Tried hard to watch this. It was too bad to continue. David Lynch truly fucking sucks. Thank goodness David Chase is a million times more talented and made a show like Sopranos which has absolutely nothing to do with Twin Peaks and is based entirely on his own experiences with psychiatry, the mafia, and North Jersey.

>> No.22079791

>>22079717
The dream sequences from Sopranos are nothing like Twin Peaks. They’re actually dream-like, unlike Lynch’s ham fisted shitshow

>Tried hard to watch this. It was too bad to continue

that's my point, they all go back to twin peaks because those lazy hacks are afraid to do something new, they just rehash their influences

>>22079791
they are, david chase even worked in a twin peaks knockoff before doing the sopranos

TV sucks hard and will never come back to its glory. Its clear for everyone with at least 2 undeformed brain cells. I never would watch Netflix even if I had it for free, I'd have to resort to book instead, just any book, which is a good thing I guess.

It's that good that when an ex-mob today consultant for mafia films said that if any boss saw a psychiatrist he would be in the trunk of a car the week after, and the psychiatrist too.
You know nothing, Jon Snow.
