The Bible contradicts itself. This isn't news.
Sure, it doesn't hold up under critical analysis, but that doesn't negate the fact that it forms the basis of a lot of ideas of morality and personal or not-so-personal philosophy. It's important culturally and it has a few good stories in it too.
Plus, if someone starts trying to bullshit you, you can call them out on it or at least bullshit them back.

you don't really learn serious biblical lititerary criticism, like you'd study as a religious studies major at uni, in sunday school

there's a really interesting history that a lot of fundies in the u.s. gloss over in trying to construe everything as being factual historical record ... which in turn gives the militant atheists the impression that the book is really dull (which is only partially true)

at least the moderates have it right
