Just going to say the same thing I said from the last thread like this.

Lomax saw how pathetic Stoner was for not wanting much out of life when he first saw him. Stoner was also more able bodied than him yet was more pathetic. He especially noticed this when Stoner wanted to halter a crippled student progress academically just because he didnt like him (Lomax and the student are implied lovers too). Tl;DR Lomax was always resentful of Stoner because he's a loser and he though he was ableist

My interpretation was that he had a thing for Edith. They did happen to share a drunken kiss after all. This likely contributed to the resentment.
