So, which is the better Kindle? I was thinking of getting the 3G Touch. Are the 'special offer' ads annoying or can I easily ignore them?

The viewable screen size of that Kindle must be only around half of the other one. wtf are Amazon thinking?

They're almost the same.

I have heard that some people find the keyboard to be almost useless on the kindle.

Haha. It's pretty useful when typing your password after turning it on or bringing it out of sleep mode.

It's pretty useful in doing a search for certain words (to quickly look for an excerpt in a text).

It's pretty useful to look up a word on the dictionaries it comes with.

Can't you just jailbreak it if you buy the Special Offers one?

The bottom third of the Nook is an on-screen keyboard. Their readable screen size is about the same.

I never use mine. I treat my kindle like a book, so don't do searches or dictionary lookups or anything like that on it. I have a computer for searches, and an actual dictionary for word lookup.

I can see its usefulness to some people, though personally it's a waste of space on mine.

Kobo Touch is for people who actually care about reading.

>> No.2202216

I don't get why the Kindle and Nook would both waste space on a keyboard that's always there, whether it's a physical or onscreen keyboard. Why not just have one that pops up onscreen when an option is selected?

The new Kindle DOES do that. There's a Kindle with a touch screen out there too.

You mean the Nook Touch?

I have to say though, the kobo ereaders are the best no-bullshit ereaders on the market. (except for the vox)
