Neighbors fucking.
Neighbors doing some kind of noisy repair job.
Neighbors listening to loud music.
Cars outside speeding.

My dream, as you might have guessed, is to get away from this city and find a somewhat quiet place to spend the rest of my life in.

your dream could be a pair of noise canceling headphones, or a bus pass

Good luck, we’ve reached the point where rural areas are more expensive to live in than expensive cities. Of course you could go for the suburbs or exurbs, but they too are noisy and have zero scenery and lack the amenities of a city. Also, relatively normal people live in city apartments along with the retards, but only subhuman trash and spics live in suburban apartments.

All the rich libs and boomers bought up rural property and work from home while demanding millions for a 2-bedroom home in the countryside. There are also no jobs or apartment buildings in rural areas.

I’m able to find cheap, normal rural living in my state. The problem with it is how socially isolating it is. I lived there for two years and never met a single friend or had a single date.

I cannot listen to anything when reading, it's too distracting
maybe some calm classical music or whatever doesn't have lyrics isn't too bad but if there's any lyrics or music is too intense at all I lose my mind, I could never listen to Vivaldi but Chopin's Nocturnes are fine

I’ve had enough socializing for one life living in the city for 11 years. I lived on a farm for 6 months and wish I could go back every day. I’m a very social and outgoing person who always wants more people to be around, but I have reached the point where every person I meet I so deadened from weed, phones/streaming, and alcohol, that I cannot get them say anything remotely interesting or engaging. The world has been made autistic and soulless.

Depends. It always has to be without lyrics, but some days even music with melody distracts me. I generally listen to ambient/soundscape music or field recordings. Sometimes ambient music with melody, sometimes jazz or classical.

Here's some of my favourites, in no particular order of genre:

I have mild tinnitus so I can't stand silence. When I read I'll either put on a white nose like rain, or music without vocals that matches the tone and feel of the book I'm reading. Some recent music pairings have included scifi themed ambient stuff when reading scifi, Tchaikovsky and Schostakovitch when reading russian lit, Spanish guitar music when reading Bolaño, etc etc

Nothing. If anything, I'm usually wearing these because the sound of the birds chirping makes me homicidal.

Depends on the book, but generally
>Graphic novels
Usually goth-ish music
>Gothic horror or books with a Victorian flare
Baroque
>Every other kind of horror
Some sort of dark and bass heavy electronica. Like dark synth.
>Technical and reference books
Breakbeat, speedcore, or some sort of instrumental metal
>Drama, suspense, thrillers, etc.
Electronica
>Sci-fi
Usually electronica too but occasionally industrial
>Fantasy
Electronica though occasionally classical or instrumental metal
>Everything else not mentioned
Usually electronica.
It's my go to general reading and background music for mental task that require me to focus and sit still.
