I've decided to give a shot at Mike Ma's writings, and all I am asking myself as of now is: how do you become this delusional? Is it just a mix of commonplace american exceptionalism with nineties gentrified nostalgia, or is Ma onto something?

I do admit that his ramblings certainly glimpse at a certain morbid sensitivity towards modern civilization, since he's a Kaczynski reader, but does he genuinely believe that a return to an idealized, ever-violent past, is the way for humans to regain a modicum of freedom?

How does he conciliate the fact that every single empire we know so far has either crumbled under it's own weight or due to external pressures with his pastoral fantasies of the pre-modern world?

It's genuinely baffling to me how he manages to understand the affective nexus of what makes this world unfulfilling while completely misunderstanding who's responsible for such a state of affairs.

Ma insisted that the book presents only an exagerated version of his own view on politics, and considering how he's IRL, I'd say that's a fair assessment.

Of course you could go on and say it's all a zoomer pastiche of American Psycho, but I don't believe that adds much to it.

Harassment architecure captured a very niche experience among young, online american males. Usually middle or upper middle class, who felt like they had absolutely nothing going for them and felt the syste meither failed or had forgotten about them. It's the same energy as the rich kid in high school who coked his nose to oblivion and blew his brains out.

That's a good summary of it: sufficiently educated to thrive, but yet completely incapable of changing the world or himself. It's kinda pathetic.

There's a scene where the narrator pauses to push his glasses up on his nose while ranting about the superiority anarcho-primitivism or something.

Dofus that think this books is satire are the same that think the Republic is not meant to be taking seriously. Mind-bogging that he could get away with this collection of online ramblings, people that earnestly like this books should be the last to complain about the actual state of the world.

well, it is what it is. I think there is something there that is valid, and if it's not pathetic, it's at least a bit tragic in a cringe way.
