Thinking of buying a Kindle. What's the best model? Are there any other e-book readers worth buying instead?

I have a kindle keyboard (bought it before the new versions existed). I love it, although I rarely use the keyboard so I suppose it is 'wasted' space.

I wouldn't buy a touch version, I can't stand fingerprints on any of my devices.

kindle is the best, nook is good too. Get eink. Cool thing about nooks is that is you go to a Barnes and Noble, they let you read any ebook in the online library for free for an hour.

I have a friend with a nook touch and he really likes it, but I haven't used the touch screen yet.

Buy a Kindle, you can convert any file with Calibre and email it directly to your kindle from within the program.

Why would you ever hold out your expensive electronic device to a complete stranger?

Don't buy a kindle, buy a nook instead. Don't go for the whole flashy color or tablet though, they're nice and all, but not worth it. The only thing I would want it for is the backlight. The simple touch is the way to go, and it just dropped in price to $99. 1-year warranty that replaces any kind of damage. Full customer support (in person, not online or phone), and over 2.5 million books.
Kindle ain't got shit.

I work at B&N by the way

why the hell would you want a backlit reading device? Do you hate your eyes?

Kindle Keyboard is the way to go. Get a case with a built-in booklight and you're gold.

are you dense? are you retarded?

The nook touch is not backlit. And the kindle lighted cover isn't even backlit. I doubt you even know what backlit means.
