Engaging is a legitimate term

Not in literary criticism. It's a social media term. "OMG this content generated so much engagement!" It essentially means people find it entertaining.

I use engaging and entertaining
I don't ever do literary criticism, I just do reviews which are basically me sharing how I felt when I read a book

I don't see how. Your feelings =/= literary quality.

>> No.21956442

I've never seen it used like that. It's always "the story is engaging" or "the writing is so engaging." It basically means "it catches my attention and is entertaining, it makes me engage with the content." When people want to say what you mean they usually say "thought-provoking."
