Can I have your thoughts on A Clockwork Orange? I might read for an outside reading project.

I didn't seem to enjoy the made-up words as much as other people seemed to. The movie's great, though.

they are russian words, not made up words.

actually at the time the novel was written the Russian words were already created so they were not made up by the author, which is what >>2193571 meant when he said they weren't made up

Read it before you watch the film and then don't watch it.

Can you form thoughts on anything yourself?

Well actually I can't form thoughts on something I haven't read, but thanks for being an ass. I'm trying to decide if I want to read it or not.

>implying Russian exists as a language and isn't just the product of one crazy guy who pumped out everything in Cyrillic you've ever seen one afternoon in his basement on an old Paragon

They're words based on Russian words. THey aren't Russian words.

unless you happen to think 'horrorshow' is a Russian word, as opposed to the word it was based on, 'khorosho'.

Exactly. Serious readers simply read and figure it out on their own. Nowadays its this pansy bullshit of needing to be extra careful about what you read lest ye' end up not liking it. Cowards.

>>2193652
Ah, well I guess I'm not a serious reader. I'd rather spend my time reading something enjoyable than reading something else.

transliterations of existing words, whoop dee doo

also congrats on lecturing a russian on russian

But you'll never know what you enjoy unless you figure it out yourself. You're just another lame nobody who needs to have his hand held in order to do anything new. A pansy.

I guess so, but I do value opinions of other rather than wasting my time trying everything.

Jesus, everybody is so shitty on this board. Whatever.
I thought it was good, OP. The made up words do tend to get in the way but are kind of cool and you hardly notice them towards the end.
And the movie's a classic. Don't know why people are hating on it.

As if your time is so precious and your life so productive as it stands. Sure, we wouldn't want somebody as stupendous as you to waste your time when the cure for cancer is right under our noses. Pansy.

It's a really thin book anyway, you won't have wasted much time if you do end up not enjoying it. For what it's worth, I'd highly recommend it.

>> No.2194304

i havent read it. but of course its worth reading. its by burgess. it can't be a complete waste of time. but its kind of tired. a lot of people are sick of hearing about it. the movie is overated. the books probably over rated too. why not read something that almost every teenager hasn't read?

i sick of seeing that image everywhere too.
