The most /lit/ languages are Greek, Latin, German, English, and French. These five languages have produced the greatest works of literature of all time and no other language even comes close. Literature in other languages might as well not even exist. Why is this? Why have they produced such a disproportionate amount of literary masterpieces?

Did other countries (e.g. Spain, Italy, etc.) not value higher thought and the human experience?

There's Rumi, there's Dante's Inferno, there's Art of War, there's Crime and Punishment, there's The Tale of Genji

These are literary masterpieces and they aren't from the pool of the five language you listed

>Dante's Inferno
Italy managed to produce only one (1) masterpiece over the course of hundreds of years, while the languages I listed in the OP produced innumerable literary geniuses. Shakespeare alone wrote more great literature than Italy's one (1) good work.

There are a lot of celebrated Italian poets thoughbeit, it's hardly just Dante. Petrarch, Leopardi, and d'Annunzio are all well known in Anglorealm and they have like a dozen other big names that are less known abroad but considered on a similar tier from what I understand.

I'll grant you Leopardi. The rest suck ass.
