What does ART mean to you? What's it about that intrigues you?

>> No.2190624

Art means paycheque. Money is about that intrigues me.

>> No.2190625

idk. That's why it's good.

>> No.2190652

Art is what makes someone who has an excessive need to express themselves and use their creativity. This definition includes all artistic expreción. Any other definition is wrong.

Make art in a lower rate of expreción, influenced by their own creativity. Obviously, the kitsch is art.

there was a kid named art in into psych who got either suspended or expelled for punching a light fixture and said he was going to nyc to meet the working man and the commoner

godspeed, art, wherever you are

>> No.2190714

Art is a relatively meaningless term. Too broad.

To me anything nonliving that evokes an emotional response in me is art. I guess art is in a sense, something that makes you feel empathy, but for a non human object.

I like the entertainment value in art, thats all.

20th century seems to have killed art. no one knows what to do next after those guys.

So theatre isn't art.

>> No.2190732

>>2190616
Art is simple, it is the raising of a thing upon a pedestal.

Art instill value in a thing.

A painter, sculptor, writer is not an artist, until they present it to the world and say "come at me bro." It is an act of tying yourself up with a thing, saying "this is meaningful, this says something, if you hate it blame me."

Art isn't in painting or writing, its in choosing.

Sure, but an artist is alive, they become the immortal dartboard.

>> No.2190746

Three responses come to mind.

1) no, its entertainment
2) A PLAY can be art, but once its being preformed its entertainment
3) The actors are not being themselves, so much like when you emotionally respond to a painting, an artificial representation of a natural thing, you're not having empathy or an emotion repose to the PEOPLE the actors are but to the characters they portray which makes it art.

But there really is no meaning to the term 'art'

You just apply the term 'art' to any activity you think has merit. the appellation just means 'there is transcendental merit in this activity'

What is art? Are we art? Is art, art?

Art is religion to some people.

Lots of people have 'religious experiences' due to looking at art. Historically art was thought to bring you closer to the mind of god. Sculpting was basically a religious activity, the study of man's form.

Very similar concepts, although the rigid hierarchy and power structure of western religion/church keeps the subjects separate in our minds

Expression (despite how pretentious that sounds), or anything that someone invested time into so they could convey emotion. Which is why a lot of books and music are not art in my opinion.
