Hey, /lit/. I'm interested in learning about archetypes, and I was wondering which books I should read to get me started. Recommendations are greatly appreciated.

The Hero with A Thousand Faces might be a good read for some meta commentary on stories throughout the centuries and the hero archetype

as far as symbols and archetypes go, you might consider reading Man and his Symbols by Carl Jung, but over all I think Jungianism suffers from a high level of simulation, that is, archetypes in his mode only have legitamacy through a statistical method, while he wants to argue for them as something intrinsic or metaphysical.
