So which translation of pic related should I read, In Search of Lost Time or Remembrance of Things Past?

A moot point since In Search of Lost Time has become the title of the revised Moncrieff translations anyway. If you are asking if you should use his translation or the new Penguin translation, I think the new Penguin translation with each volume using a different translator conveys the French idioms much better and uses more precise language whereas Moncrieff will sometimes substitute English idiom (this is a valid approach called idiomatic) and use more approximate language for phrases or references to things which might be lost on English speakers, although overall he is faithful and the revision of his translation even more so. Basically comes down to if you prefer idiomatic, or literal, and for me it is the latter since I feel like the distinct way French people talk is important to the work

Every single post beyond this one is a bunch of midwits who haven't read a new release apart from the dogshit Modern Library re-editing or haven't read it in french. Just read the Yale University Press version as the footnotes are worth more any other translation effort at this time. Note, its not fully finished as Time Regained will likely come out in 2024. The translation is from Moncrieff but William C. Carter's editing is solid and consistent throughout the volumes. If you want to read Time Regained (Finding Time Again), I recommend the Penguin version as its a better effort than the Andreas Mayor translation.
