What book gives similar vibes or has a similar atmosphere to 2814’s 新しい日の誕生? I’m looking for characters experiencing a sense of separation or loneliness or even ennui set in the backdrop of a slightly futuristic, cyberpunk even, large metropolis, ideally Tokyo or some other east Asian city.

2814 is nice and all but check this vibe:

I don't think any books like that exist unfortuntaely. There was this guy once who promised to write a bunch of cyberpunk novels, Gibson something, but he molested you and turned you into a faggot instead.

Start playing "ding dong ding" song from this album on repeat
Relax
Start reading literally any novel

There you go. The "atmosphere" of music is ephemeral and can be changed given whatever association.

What you want to ask is are there any books on modern ennui set in orientalised rainy urban sprawl.

None. The closest was the first chapter of Ismaël Kadaré's The Siege. The rhythm of the first chapter, the rainy atmosphere, for some reason fit so much, but it's not even then Cyberpunk, is a late medieval ottoman historical novel lol

You know the Cyberpunk genre is based on the writings of Philip K. Dick right? Bladerunner is based on "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"

White Lights by Rural Alberta Advantage. Its a song and the setting is completely different but you're looking for a feeling so what does it matter.
