It's the guide to normiedom. This is what the world will be after 50 years. We won't get Soma though, it's just gonna be instagram reels.

One thing I don't get is that Lenina is a beta and therefore wears mulberry, but in one chapter is said to be wearing green, the color of the gamma caste. Huxley has said he simply made a mistake and even though the mistake consists of one word in one scene it still persists in modern editions.

this. it read as a young-adult novel. garbage prose. one of the worst books i've read.

10/10 it's ok
1984 makes you think but it's very unpleasant

There is a scary amount of retards that think huxley thought the book was about an utopia, which is fucking retarded since the books basically makes his take on it obvious.
The prose is absolutely uninteresting and it is hard to read because of that, it's a worse read than 1984. But as far as the message goes, it is superior to any other dystopian novel, so it's a book I'd reccommend if you are willing to accept it's going to bore you at some points.

good book, as already mentioned the prose are kind of dry but the plot is relatively captivating and the dystopia posed is rather novel, if you’re not specifically looking for a dystopia I would recommend Huxley’s Island instead.

I would rethink that if I were you. 1984 isn't exactly prescient today because of its commentary on totalitarian rule. It's more about the limitation and control of language that makes it timeless. Both books have value, but I agree the writing style is annoying in Brave New World.

I think it's a mix of both. The anti sexuality in 1984 was obviously wrong, as we have seen hypersexuality is a much more efficient tool of control, like in BNW. Same goes for drugs, alcohol, and the destruction of the nuclear family, all things BNW was right about. But the way media manipulates was spot on in 1984, probably because George Orwell, being a journalist, knew how things worked in the business.
>>21855492
That's a gross reduction of what actually happens in BNW.
Sure, humans using alcohol to cope is nothing new, but what we see on a societal level in BNW is far beyond anything usual at the time it was written, or hell, even today.

Their is anti sexuality today. Just directed at certain people.

It's good high school core and worth reading if you never have due to cultural significance.
