As a zoomer myself (older zoomer, not underage), I've noticed this disturbing trend of materialism among my peers as well. Personally I love audiobooks, like reading physical books, and only read digital books when I don't have a alternative.
Some will bitch about audiobooks not being legit, or that digital books being superior since (insert sour grapes bullshit to cover for the fact that they just like them because it's the easiest format to find for free), but I don't care about their opinions when it comes to fiction because when it's about fiction it's all about what I personally find enjoyable.

If books aren't your think then just enjoy whatever you do like. Ain't no skin off my back. Though I will admit your question can be seen as a bit inflamatory being posed in a place full of people who love books.

It would be like hopping on the anime board and asking why watch cartoons when live action is so much better.
To them those are fighting words. A attack on their favored hobbie that some have even wrapped up a part of their identity into.

1998 zoomer here and I feel the same way. I've also noticed that not many people of our generation don't seem interested in saving money to start families or to even own a place of their own. I know plenty of people who still live with their parents, which wouldn't be a bad thing but none of them are really saving their money; they're spending it on games and luxury items.
