They're called republicans and we have a whole system designed to make sure they can still influence national politics despite their supporters being wildly outnumbered. Many liberals have started to chafe at this, but personally I still believe in the concept, and am happy to drag them kicking and screaming into a better world despite their best attempts to vote against their pwn self interest.
