I just finished reading All Quiet on the Western Front yesterday, I would say a good portion of it was depressing.

Camus is all about trying to keep you from depression, whilst simultaneously giving you every reason to be depressed.

If you mean depressing as in "what depression actually feels like"
>Hunger - Knut Hamsun

If you mean depressing as in "inescapably tragic"
>Native Son - Richard Wright

Sartre was a pseudo philosopher. Most of Sartre's works are mostly meaningless babble - obscure talk that will seem profound to the intellectually naive but incoherent to everyone else. Sartre was a political activist but not a philosopher. Minimal requirement for being an actual philosopher is that one actually produces coherent ideas and gives reasons to justify them, and I doubt that Sartre ever did this. The irony is that if we were to do a public poll of most recognizable intellectuals and best philosophers of the 20th century, Sartre would be near the top of the list. 100% truth.

Nothing is imperceptible. The only way to know if there is "nothing" after death is to die. Richard Dawkins doesn't know shit about anything other than evolutionary biology.

I think I've read that Fante's "Ask the Dust" was highly influenced by "Hunger", and people consider it to be pretty depressing. And also Fante was a huge influence on Bukowski, whose books can vary from depressing to comical.
