I was going to ask recommendations for similar books to Hammer's Slammers (pic related) but since there's no SFF general, I guess this is also a
>Science Fiction and Fantasy General
now

TQ: Is there such a thing as good Warhammer 40k novel?

What are the absolute must-reads to get started with sci-fi?
Basically all I've read of it is the Hitchhikers Guide series years ago, plus a few short stories like The Last Question and Usher II

You might like the Dying Earth stories by Jack Vance, also Ports of Call by the same author. I just read The Spirit Phone by Arthur O'Keefe, that was pretty good. And of course Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun series.

There’s been a /sffg/ general on /lit/ for years now. I refuse to believe someone is this dumb to not see it. There’s even a thread with a 100 posts right now up.

So, yes, you are that fucking stupid to not being able to use the search box on 4chan of all places. Christ, this place just becomes more and more stupider by the day

>Christ, this place just becomes more and more stupider by the day
That’s because /lit/ is getting filled with /pol/tards and zoomers who don't read. No one here has real ambitions as a writer, either, since they all go the easy route with self-pubbing. Crit threads used to have people who came from nothing but wanted to be published by the Big Four. Now all the catalog is filled with is the same low-effort thread by a few autist who have no lives.

this board has declined so fucking hard that it's just plain sad to see. I don’t even know how people still use it. More often than not the catalog is filled with moronic shit like >>21782039 than I truly wonder if it’s a bot that’s making them. I just don’t know how hard /lit/ fell off in quality. And the cope and delusions about other anons who refuse to see this is just as depressing.

People on every board has been claiming "man this place just took a massive drop in quality" for nearly two decades at this point.
4chan was always a shitpost website, there was never a time where there were no morons, baitposters, poltards, trannies, etc.
If you think it ever had some standard of quality, you're deluding yourself.

>> No.21782063

>>21782059
Other boards have jannies and mods that at least give them some sort of quality control. /lit/ has neither of those and it’s shot to use because of it.

The main offenders that is making /lit/ into a terrible place are the /pol/tard, the incel, and the zoomer. Many anons fit under all three categories.

Whatever you want... It's not really a consolidated literary tradition since it's had so many fads and surges in popularity, and the definition of "sci fi" is pretty broad to a lot of people, sometimes boiling down to "fiction about the possibilities of technology."
